🌳 A walk on the wild side 🌿
I took a walk in the forest with @kate_and_the_bad_seeds , a human fairy, who teaches me to resonate with nature. Looking up at the green crown of trees and naming them. Scouting the musty soil, where all sorts of mushrooms thrive. Smelling the scent of petrichor and bark. Listening to the rustling leaves and the song of birds. Feeling the tickle of spiderwebs and the brush of branches.
A slow, conscious walk in the woods is pure therapy (no matter if you find edibles or not…). It brightens your mood, calms your swirling brain and fills your body with fresh air. Will you take a walk with me on the wild side? 🌞🍃 (with Lara the lagotto, of course! 🐾)

Catalina León, our third artist in residence, spe

Catalina León, our third artist in residence, spent the summer at Podere Trafonti preparing for her solo show Agñipé at @galeriamayoral (heads up: it opens on 17 September in Barcelona), exploring the region’s artistic treasures, immersing herself into the local scene and weaving a web of connections.

She collected bits and pieces of branches, rocks, fabrics and threads to create a universe from which her compositions emerge.

She set up a yurt in our olive grove and invited people to come and paint with her.
(The yurt is still here; you may still come and paint. One day the genie will return to gather your offerings.)

She went into the woods to dance with her canvasses and adorn the trees with her veils.

In these beautiful pictures @andreadellagio caught her bright, elfin spirit, fierce and wise at the same time, but also gentle and loving.

Friends and neighbours art activating with Argenti

Friends and neighbours art activating with Argentinian artist Catalina Leòn at Podere Trafonti this August.

Catalina is our third artist in residence and will remain until 2 September 2024. And we’re quite sure that she will return to see us in the future. Until then, if the fabrics or papers in Catalina’s yurt call you, you are welcome to come paint or draw. Just send me a brief message to let me know.

Agñipé, n.

Catalina invented this word which is also the title of her upcoming exhibit at @galeriamayoral in Barcelona. It means many different things, such as:

1. A hot day in the middle of winter
2. Something beautiful that appears without having looked for it
3. A sweet-and-sour taste
4. That bubbling feeling after dancing a lot
5. That lucidity you reach when you give up trying to understand something

St. John’s night is celebrated in Italy from 23

St. John’s night is celebrated in Italy from 23 to 24 June. St. John is linked to the collection of herbs such as hypericum, known as St. John's wort, which has extraordinary curative properties. It is also known as the “night of the witches”, in prolongation of the summer solstice rites related to rebirth, harvest and fertility. The wise women – or “witches” – are women who cure physical and emotional ills with medicinal plants. In herbal medicine and phytotherapy it is considered the best time of the year for collect healing herbs.

To celebrate San Giovanni collect a variety of flowers and herbs and put them in a bowl of water (preferably rainwater but filtered water will do) and leave it out exposed to the moon and the morning dew during the night from 23-24 June. In the morning, wash your face and hands or your whole body with this water and you will age wonderfully. Or else, make a small bouquet of flowers and herbs and keep it somewhere in your house for good fortune. If possible, include St. John’s wort, to keep away dark thoughts and low spirits.
