We are Antonella and Bernard, a Swiss couple, who fell under the spell of the beautiful Tuscan landscape, the bounty of its crops and produce, its picturesque towns and villages, the masterful artwork in its churches, palaces and museums and the rich cultural activities on offer. And most of all, we were charmed by its people, their sense of hospitality and their sociable lifestyle.

In 2014, we acquired a dilapidated farm, Podere Trafonti. It offered stunning views onto Montepulciano, the Monte Amiata, the surrounding fields, forests and olive groves, and the wide-open sky. It was ideally situated contiguous to the spectacular Val d’Orcia and the precious medieval village of Montefollonico. At last, after a long quest, we had found the place of our dreams. Or maybe it had found us?

With the talented contributions of our Italian architects from archiloop and a competent team of engineers, construction workers and artisans, Trafonti resuscitated from the rubbles after a good two years of hard labour.

Now, Antonella lives at Trafonti and manages the organic farm and guesthouse. Bernard visits often, enriching the ambiance with pieces from his contemporary art collection and a passion for exploring the natural surroundings and the cultural riches of the area.

And in the meantime, Lara, our lagotto romagnolo, an Italian dog breed, and Mimì, our foundling cat, have joined the team.
